Movie National Popcorn Day Presents: Leslie, My Name is Evil!"£$%^&*()_+

"Leslie: My Name is Evil is the best movie ever. I cried. I came" - Siskel and Egbert (source)

Leslie: My Name is Evil, also known as Manson Girl, Manson: My Name is Evil, and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Manson! is the best movie ever about the Manson Family, the 60s, Vietnam, and the meaning of life. It’s a work of historical fiction and a timeless romantic comedy about a young juror in the Manson Family murder trials who falls for the defendant Leslie van Houten.

Leslie rocks the Star Trek The Motion Picture look.

Perry comes from a super-conservative family, and gets a job making napalm or something for use in the Vietnam War (Apocalypse Now). But, as he gets drawn into the trial, his obsession with Leslie makes him question his upbringing. This story is intercut with Leslie’s personal journey into the Family, in which she runs away from home, discovers hippies, and meets Charlie, who is a historical figure known for his music and fashion. All this is told through a fantastic recreation of 60s-era colouration, stock footage, and stylised sets and montage. It’s a low-budget movie, but it looks good because of composition and imagery, while recent bigger budget movies look like goat stool.

Even his chemicals are red, white and blue.

Note that the movie isn't historically accurate or comprehensive. It’s about Leslie and the made-up Perry character, and more broadly as an allegory of the Vietnam War and the way social factors conspire towards brutal carnage. Also Charlie is barely in the movie, and is not the main antagonist. He’s more like a court jester, who pokes fun at society and the establishment. It’s not about Charlie. That's the point.

Best band evar.

Support non-shitty filmmaking!!! You idiots!!!
