Greatest Movie of All Time of the Week: Tucker & Dale Vs Evil!

Theme: Lack of Communication - Ratt

A very fun movie is 2010's Tucker & Dale Vs Evil, about two unassuming ruralites in West Virginia who have the misfortune to make a bad first impression on a heckin diverse group of Friday the 13th NPCs primed by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Deliverance and Wrong Turn to view "hillbillies" and "rednecks" as subhuman monsters spawned of inbreeding, a view they'd never take of far more inbred populations from, say, Pakistan. In fact, they're college kids, so you know they'd gasp in theatrical shock at the common-sense idea of "eugenics", because you have to be educated out of the capacity for cognitive dissonance if you're going to make it in the 2010s that are to come.

You think we've forgotten AIDS Skrillex and Trigglypuff? Guess again, cringelords. You dorks will never shake that crown.

A series of misunderstandings leads to accidental deaths, with the college kids blaming the titular duo, prompting them to wage ill-advised warfare on the oblivious two at the behest of self-appointed leader Chad. It's funny that this movie dates itself by using "Chad" as shorthand for "preppy frat douche", when in today's parlance it instead connotes "meme badass", but, on the other hand, just as unwittingly, the movie wins points for having its villain be an asthmatic lusting after the blonde shiksa, with a deranged vendetta against a white demographic over a story his grandma told him where they put his daddy in an oven.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally makes you think.
It's also a fascinating time capsule in that Dale, a shy sensitive soul, is not held up to scorn as an Entitled Innnnnnncel for his romantic interest in the sole college chick with triple-digit IQ (100.0), who helps our hapless protags figure out what's going on.

So they're not quite looksmatched. My bro here has the class to date down.

The horror genre really led the way in being pointlessly and inaccurately dEcOnStRuCtEd at least since Scream (which is really good, but is it good enough to justify its fallout?). The reason dEcOnStRuCtIoN always fails isn't even that breaking something to find out what it is just leaves you with a pile of junk; rather, the breaking is the only point, as no real trends are ever discovered nor any of their meanings rendered clear.

Deconstructionistas running from their own deconstruction (every day, colourised).

You've heard, for instance, that "the black guy always dies first in a horror movie", but this has no basis in anything you've ever seen. The """"trope"""" was played for parody and commentary in Scream 2, but there are more counterexamples than real examples from the era it was mocking: "the black guy" dies last in Night of the Living Dead, survives in the original Night of the Demons, dies first in The Dream Master only after surviving to the end of Dream Warriors (giving him a better innings than 99% of slasher characters), and so on. Likewise, Laurie Strode smokes pot in Halloween and doesn't die, Ginny isn't a virgin in Friday the 13th Part 2 and survives, and so on. This leaves Tucker & Dale Vs Evil the only genre riff ever to actually nail a real trend in the genre: rural whites are vilified.

Now do the same thing with "the news".
